Upon opening this Pop Up card, the perfectly scaled model of a Galway Hooker rises up sailing past Mutton Island lighthouse in the background. It is sure to charm any lucky recipient.
The card is laser cut, then hand assembled (20cmx15cm).

Known as ‘The Workhorse of the West’, this wooden sailing boat was traditionally used for fishing and transporting cargo such as seaweed, grain, turf, livestock and people around the shallow waters of Galway Bay. It is the custom to cover the hull in pitch, giving the black colour and the beautiful rusty colour of the sails comes from the practice of weatherproofing them with tree bark.
